Dry powder fire extinguishing agent is a dry and easily flowing fine powder used for fire extinguishing. It is composed of fine solid powder which is dried, crushed and mixed by inorganic salt with effective fire extinguishing effect and a few additives.
According to the type of fire extinguishing agent, it can be divided into BC dry powder and ABC dry powder. In practical application, there is also a kind of dry powder extinguishing agent specially prepared for Class D fire.
According to the particle size of extinguishing agent, dry powder extinguishing agent can be divided into ordinary dry powder extinguishing agent and ultra-fine dry powder extinguishing agent.
Let's have a preliminary understanding of the types of fires. According to substances and their combustion characteristics, fire types are divided into the following six categories:
Class A fire: solid material fire, such as wood, cotton, wool, hemp, paper and its products burning fire.
Class B fire: liquid or fusible solid material fire, such as gasoline, kerosene, diesel oil, crude oil, methanol, ethanol, asphalt, paraffin, etc.
Class C fire: Gas fire, such as combustion of gas, natural gas, methane, ethane, propane, hydrogen, etc.
Type D fire: metal fire, such as potassium, sodium, magnesium, titanium, zirconium, lithium, aluminum-magnesium alloy fire.
Class E fire: live fire, fire of objects burning live, such as generator room, transformer room, distribution room, instrument room, electronic computer room and other electrical equipment cannot timely or should not be cut off during the fire.
Class F fire: Fire of cooking utensils. A fire of cooking objects (e.g. animal and vegetable oils) in a cooking utensil.
According to the composition of extinguishing agent classification: BC dry powder extinguishing agent and ABC dry powder extinguishing agent
BC dry powder fire extinguishing agent: BC dry powder fire extinguishing agent is mainly composed of sodium bicarbonate, which can extinguish Class B and C fires. In practical application, it can also put out the fire of class E liquid or soluble substance.
ABC dry powder fire extinguishing agent: it is mainly composed of ammonium dihydrogen phosphate, which can extinguish class A, B and C fires. In practical application, it can also put out type E fire.
Class A fire: Solid material fire
Class B fire: liquid fire or solid dissolvable material fire
Class C fire: Gas fire
Type E fire: live fire
